The Postmarks of the Province of Fiume

1924 - 1943 (including precursors)

by J.F.Gilbert

(published 2009)

A natural progression from the previously published handbook No.4, "Postmarks of Fiume 1809 -1945", this new book attempts to bring together all known postmarks of the Province of Fiume together with the precursors.

Over 200 marks are illustrated and many are shown used on covers or cards from the author's collection. The events leading up to the establishment of the Province are described and are amply supported by maps, photos and ephemera. It includes a study by the late Prof. Francesco Gerini on the Redeemed Territories taken from Austro-Hungarian Territories after the First World War, in which he details the historic background to the Province, its postal structure and postal markings.

Over a period of years, information provided by members of the I.C.S.C. and published in the journal Fil-Italia, have greatly increased our knowledge of Provincial postmarks, and it is their valuable contributions that form the basis of this book.

The book (134 pages) is priced at £20 + (plus P&P UK = £3, Europe = £6, ROW = £10):-
