The Postal History of the French in Italy, 1915-1919,

with particular reference to the French Military Mission

by David Trapnell

(published 2012)

In the introduction to this monograph the author says that he has been unable to find any article in any language on the postal history of the French Military Mission in Italy (Le Mission Militaire Française en Italie or MMF) during the First World War.  Occasional illustrations of handstamps used by MMF may be found in the literature but none of the authors paid any attention them and there are images of some on the internet (also without comment).

So the purpose of this paper is to describe the handstamps I have recorded and to explain their use in relation to the postal practice of the French Army, at home and abroad.

The subject is carefully researched, well presented and profusely illustrated in full colour.

The booklet is 38 A4 pages, spiral bound and is priced at £10 (plus P&P UK = £1.50, Europe = £4, ROW = £5.50):-
