Fil-Italia was the journal of the Italy and Colonies Study Circle. It was published quarterly from 1974 until the end of 2023. It contains articles on a wide variety of Italian related subjects catering for all levels of philatelic interest and ability. Many of the articles were being published for the first time. Others are translations of articles that first appeared in Italian journals. There was often a lively correspondence from the membership with questions asked, opinions proffered and answers given. Society news and the activities of members and their achievements were also often reported as were new issues from the stamp-issuing bodies in the Italian area.
The first editor and creator of the journal was Colin Pilkington who remained editor until his untimely death in April 2002. From 2002-2012 the editor was Andy Harris and from 2012-2024 Giorgio Migliavacca. Over the years the journal has won many awards. (The post of editor is currently vacant)
In 2005 a project to digitise the Fil-Italia archive was completed. Since then, it has been possible to extract any article upon request and to send it as an attachment to an email. Requests should be sent the Webmaster, Andy Harris.
